AFTER a five-day festive shutdown Louth Indoor Bowls Club was busy staging its annual Christmas Tournament featuring a number of teams in the open draw triples competition.

The teams were split into two groups, each team playing four games of seven ends.

To reflect the time of year each team were given a name associated with the 12 days of Christmas and the winners were the French Hens comprising of John Sanders, Margaret Scott and Wendy Bowles.

They won all four of their games including a one-shot victory over the Partridges who won their other three games to finish as runners-up
The Partridges, represented by Dave Roper, Pat Jacklin and Jean Holdsworth, grabbed second place by winning their final game 14-3 against the Golden Ringers which ensured they had a superior shots difference over third-placed Dairy Milkers (Barry Southwell, Ned Pickerill and Keith Stone).

All teams managed at least one win but spare a thought for the Wild Geese trio of Colin Holdsworth, David Wise and Derek Scott, who finished bottom of the pile with just one win and a minus 22 shots deficit after losing their first game 19-0 against the Golden Ringers.

Thanks are due to all the players who supported the event, especially those who were drafted in at the 11th hour, and also to club captain Alan Watson who oversaw the proceedings as well as actually playing.
