No lack of flowers for long in Sutton!
AN explanation for the lack of flowers in Sutton on Sea has been made following locals' outrage at the town's bare flowerbeds.
Last week the Leader ran a story on the Sutton on Sea WI members anger that the town’s pleasure gardens have been left unusually bereft of colour this year, and concern how the town will appear to visitors arriving for their holidays.
Amanda Bond, Senior Projects Officer for Economic Regeneration at Lincolnshire County Council said: "For Sutton on Sea, endeavours to further improve the area for the summer tourist season have met with some unforeseen delays. We would like to reassure people every effort is being made over the coming weeks to create an environment to be proud of.
“We consulted on replacing the annual flower arrangements in the beds with year-round planting and there has been a delay due to the technical design and laying of exciting, new feature lighting within the beds, which is due to start on July 21.
She added: “We understand concern the beds appear bare at this time but planting will take place shortly after the lighting has been installed and both elements should be completed by the August Bank Holiday. We thank people for their patience during this time."
