Louth Town ‘devastated’ at news of founder member’s death
Kerry Coggle.
Tributes have been paid to a founder member of Louth Town Football Club and a ‘real football man’ who died on Monday night.
Kerry Coggle was the final ever manager of Louth United before they disbanded in 2007 and a key part of the creation of Louth Town in the same year.
Mr Coggle was also a partner at Peter Mountain estate agents in Louth since 1998 and a well-loved figure in the town.
Louth Town’s secretary Rick Hill said everyone connected to the club was ‘devastated’ to hear of Kerry’s death.
“Kerry was responsible for getting me involved in football, he was a proper football man through and through and a real top man,” he said.
“Everyone connected to the club is devastated to hear of his death.
“Kerry would do a lap of the pitch before every game. It was his only superstition but sadly it didn’t work most of the time!”
The club are now making plans to mark the death of a man who was one of their most important figures.
Please email your tributes to Kerry to sam.kinnaird@jpress.co.uk so we can include them in the paper next week.
