Raise a glass, and say ‘cheers’ to county Co-op’s birthday

CHEERS to big birthday beer! Batemans Brewery has teamed up with Lincolnshire Co-operative to bring special ale to mark the 150 year anniversary of the Co-op’s long-running service.

The 500ml bottles of ale will go on sale in all 70 society food stores, priced £1.50. Members will also receive five times dividend points on their purchases.

Director Stuart Bateman said: “Batemans and Lincolnshire Co-op are both integral to the Lincolnshire community, so it’s a perfect partnership.”

The beer promotion is not the only initiative being used to commemorate the 150th anniversary.

The society has also launched a Big Birthday Awards initiative, which will contribute £500,000 to 150 community projects throughout Lincolnshire. The winning applications will be announced on the Co-op’s official birthday: Friday, August 19.

The society’s membership and community manager, Sam Turner, praised the community: “There’s so much good work going on in our community.

“Having had a look through the applications we know it’s going to be a difficult job picking the successful applicants.”
