THE Big Swing Band is at Louth's Riverhead Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, at 7.30pm each night.
The show Sentimental Journey transports the audience back to the golden era of traditional swing, the 1940s and 50s, and pays homage to the 65th anniversary of D Day on June 6 with tunes by popular wartime bands like Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman.
New band vocalists, Christine Scott and Marty Wilson, both seasoned professionals, bring Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra to mind and well known singer, Sara Blair Manning, joins them on Sunday night only when she and Christine add some Andrews Sisters numbers to the programme.
The show also includes dance routines by Jump Jive Alive, who wear wartime uniforms and fashions for their swing jive and rock 'n' roll numbers.
Louth performers Steven and Jill Atkins are two of the dancers.
The impressive line up of the Big Swing Band comprises four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, piano, string bass, drums and guitar conducted by musical director, Rob Egerton.
Band leader Paula Baldwin will compere the show.
The band, which rehearses in Louth weekly, was formed in 2003 by the late Keith Baldwin, an internationally known jazz trumpet player who retired to Lincolnshire.
After his death 18 months later, his widow Paula carried on running the band and has secured bookings for them in major theatres and venues in and around Lincolnshire.
The band also performs at the Embassy Theatre on Wednesday July 8 at 7.30pm with Miller Music, Sinatra Songs.
