THE second Louth Children's Film Festival, presented by Louth Film Club and the Playhouse Cinema opens on Monday, June 16.
There will be daytime shows for school parties running through to Thursday and public performances, for adults as well as children, at 7.30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Monday evening's movie is Azur & Asmar - The Princes' Quest, an Arabian Nights style story told in a stunningly beautiful new animation by French film maker Michel Ocelot (an English voiced version will be screened).
Tuesday evening will see a double bill of Buster Keaton silent comedies: his feature-length masterpiece The General, about the kidnapping of a steam engine during the American Civil War, and his funniest short film, The Scarecrow. Both films have music soundtracks.
The final public show, on Wednesday evening, is A Little Princess, one of the Daily Telegraph's Top 20 children's films, a terrific adaptation of the Frances Hodgson Burnett story directed by Alfonso Cuarón, who made the screen version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
All the films are Certificate U. Tickets for the public performances will be on sale on the night at the Playhouse box office. Doors open 7pm.
* Further details are available at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth's Tourist Information Centre, Off The Beaten Tracks record shop in Aswell Street on 01507 606440 or visit www.louthfilmclub.co.uk
