ON Monday December 7 at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth Film Club will be showing its annual pre-Christmas feelgood movie, the romantic drama Once.
In this delightful Irish film, which won the 2008 Oscar for Best Original Song (Falling Slowly), a Dublin busker meets and falls in love with a young Czech woman and fellow musician.
The leading roles are played by real-life musicians Glen Hansard, who starred in The Commitments and is a member of Celtic soul band The Frames, and pianist MarkÈta Irglov.
They also wrote most of the film's great songs, including the Oscar winning Falling Slowly.
Daily Telegraph film critic Sukhev Sandhu said, "Not since Before Sunset has a romantic film managed to be as touching, funny or hard to forget as Once. It never outstays its welcome, climaxing on a note of rare charm and unexpectedness".
Once is Certificate 15. The show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £3 for members, standard cinema prices (£5 or £4 concessions) for non-members.
