07/05/08 - Depression and stress is just an excuse for skiving

EDITOR – I read our inept council are considering paying yet another external consultancy business to deal with the problem of staff suffering from depression and stress.
Both of these conditions are part of everyday life and employees not able to cope should be issued with warning notices of the sack for skiving, as is the case more often than not.

It appears this council has to bring in consultants at great cost for most of the decisions they have to make.
I remember when in the advent of the wheelie bin system, they purchased 19 new dustcarts and then paid a consultancy firm a fantastic amount of money to advise them that they required two more.

Perhaps they would care to employ me as a consultant; the first thing I would do would be to double shift the dustcarts; most of them appear to be out of use from approximately 2pm onwards, this way I would need only approximately half of the existing vehicles, or is this too easy.
