14/05/08 - Trailer ticket a big turn-off
EDITOR – Having arrived at our destination (Old Maltings Antique Centre, Aswell Street, Louth) guided by our trusty SatNav via the shortest/scenic route – a four-hour journey – we find that parking is restricted by yellow lines and 'permit holders only' pitches.
However, we soon find the Newmarket car park at the top of the street with a few cars and lots of space.
Parked, paid up and locked up, we head off to the toilet to mark our spot so to speak.
Next we go to the street market, antique centre and a look around your lovely town. After about an hour we return to our car.
Oh, I forgot to say because my wife had thought she may find a piece of furniture we brought a small trailer along.
Ha ha, you now know what's coming ... that's right, I had gained a ticket for parking my trailer in an almost empty car park, £30 if I'm good and pay up within seven days, along with a little note from the car park attendant saying: 'I'm sorry but it does say quite clearly on the notice board above the map. No Trailers'.
My point is, how can a genuine visitor park in your town, having done the only sensible thing?
