EDITOR - As a regular visitor to Louth market I am at a loss as to how reducing the number of days it is held will make it 'more popular'.
As I see it, weather permitting, the market is full of traders, local shoppers and visitors from outside the area on all three days at present.
If it were to be held on just two days those days wouldn't be busier as each day has different traders and they have commitments at other markets.
Visitors would simply go elsewhere.
The market is a large part of Louth's identity and reducing the number of market days would have a negative impact on the town both financially and in terms of morale.
May a suggest the commitee has the approach of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'?
