On Monday, November 11, at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth Film Club is showing Amour, the French/Austrian film that won multiple awards earlier this year, including an Oscar and a Bafta, both for Best Foreign Language Film.
In 2012 it also won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Film at the European Film Awards in 2012.
Directed by Michael Haneke, it’s an intense but moving film about an elderly, long-married couple, Anne and Georges, whose bond of love is tested to the extreme when Anne suffers a stroke.
Amour, in French with subtitles, is Certificate 12A. The show starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, paying the normal Playhouse Cinema ticket prices.
Further details about the club and its films can be found on its website www.louthfilmclub.com or in its 2013/14 programme, available free from Off The Beaten Tracks, 36 Aswell Street, Louth, or the Playhouse Cinema or Louth Library.
