The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway will be holding its annual three day Gala over Easter and it promises to be a real action-packed weekend for steam lovers.
The guest loco at this year’s event is a unique Aspinall Class 27 0-6-0 number 1300, the sole survivor of a class of steam locomotives which were built for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway nearly 100 years ago.
“No. 1300 will be the first tender loco to appear at the LWR in the heritage era giving some great photo opportunities,” said spokesman Gordon Newton. “We are delighted to have her as our guest locomotive”.
The Easter Steam Gala at the Ludborough-based heritage railway runs from Saturday March 30 to Monday April 1.
There will also be displays of miniature steam engines and vintage vehicles in the car park and on the Sunday staff will be giving out free Easter eggs for all children who travel on the trains.
