Louth band Shrinking Spires reform for Christmas gig
Louth band Shrinking Spires, pictured in their heyday in the late 1970s, are making a comeback this Christmas.
One of Louth’s most successful bands are set to return to the stage this Christmas after reforming 30 years after their heyday.
Shrinking Spires were well known on the local music scene between 1977 and 1980 when their Post Punk/New Wave style saw them play across the area as well as London’s world famous Marquee Club.
After a 30 year hiatus the band reformed for Christmas 2011 and their comeback gig, taking fans back in time to their heyday, was so popular that they decided they would do the same this Christmas.
The four-piece are made up of Jon Newby (vocals/guitar), Andy Dalton (bass), Paul Barrett (drums) and Lynne Stones (backing vocals).
As well as this year’s gig, the band have re-recorded nine of their most popular songs for a special album, Ancient Made Modern, which is on sale now.
The gig takes place at Louth Hospital Club on Friday, December 28, from 8pm and support comes from local band Mental Health.
The album will be on sale on the night and at Facebook.com/TheShrinkingSpires.
Admission is £5 on the door, or £10 to include the CD, and £4.50 in advance (£9 with CD) from Off the Beaten Tracks record shop in Aswell Street, Louth.
