Louth Christmas Market

The Louth Christmas Craft Market on Sunday December 2 looks set to be a cracker.

It will feature Father Christmas, a festive local sausage and the official switch-on of new Christmas lights.

The event is being hosted for the first time by the Louth Town Partnership with the Town Council co-operating with the lights switch-on.

Both parties have agreed to progressively renew the Christmas street lights and have each put up £2,000 towards this year’s cost.

To celebrate his accolade as Lincolnshire’s Butcher of the Year 2012, Trevor Fairburn has promised a Christmas sausage with special ingredients known only to him and his Mercer Row staff. The sausages will be on sale during the market and in the lead-up to Christmas.

Many of Louth’s independent shops will open during the event and each Sunday up to Christmas Day.

Patrick Neville, newly-elected acting Chair of the Partnership, said: “With each event organised by the partnership more and more shops have supported us by opening their doors on a Sunday.

“It all helps make these occasions more colourful and successful in boosting the local economy.”

Father Christmas will visit with gifts from 12noon to 3pm in the New Market Hall.

For a small fee, children can have their photo taken with him.

There will be entertainment and the town centre will be packed with stalls giving you the chance to get some lovely Christmas gifts.

Don’t miss the Leader stall, where you can get the paper and some free goodies.

The market starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.
