THE Louth and District Concert Society is now in its 70th season.
Guests of the society, before they became houehold names, were Kathleen Ferrier, Benajmin Britten and Julian Lloyd Webber.
The touring opera company, Opera for All, sang on a number of occasions as guests of the society as did the London Opera Centre touring company.
Guest artists now are young musicians on their way up the ladder, all of them prize winners or competition winners.
All of this year’s guests have been prize winners in prestigious competitions.
The first concert of the 2012/13 season will be in the Salvation Army Hall, Church Street, at 7.30pm on Thursday October 4.
Mikhail Nemtsov will play the cello and Slava Sidorenko the piano.
Mikhail has twice played concerts in the Wigmore Hall in London.
Slava is a prize winning pianist.
It should be an outstanding start to the 2012/13 season.
Tickets can be bought at the door, £10 for adults, £5 for students/unwaged and £2 for those under 14.
