On Monday October 29 at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth Film Club will be screening a fully restored print of Terrence Malick’s 1979 masterpiece Days Of Heaven, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful films ever made.
Set in the early 20th Century it stars Richard Gere and Brooke Adams as a young couple looking for a way out of poverty, working for a farmer (Sam Shepard) in the wheatfields of Texas.
The film won an Oscar for its cinematography, by Néstor Almendros, and a BAFTA for its soundtrack, by the great Ennio Morricone, and Malick won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Days Of Heaven is Certificate PG. The show starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, paying the normal Playhouse Cinema ticket prices.
