A lunch club that has helped bring its community together has celebrated its 10th anniversary in North Thoresby.
The lunch club initiative was set up in January 2005 by Diana King and Coun Doreen Stephenson and over the years has seen some fantastic successes in the work it does and the community integration it has created.
The lunch club is also inter-generational so everyone can be included with the delicious food and social interaction which goes on.
Coun Doreen Stephenson said; “The North Thoresby Lunch Club was set up initially by myself and Diana King, who lives in the village.
“We have seen some great success from the club over the years.
“A number of residents from the neighbouring villages including Tetney, Marshchapel and Fulstow also come along as it’s a great social event as well.
“The club is run every Thursday and what started off initially as jacket potato and sandwiches is now a full three-course meal, with special lunches put on during celebratory milestones during the year which includes Christmas and Easter.”
Doreen added: “A big thank you must go out to all of those who have supported us with funding over the years as well as the many great people that come to the lunches every week.
“Without you, this successful lunch club still would not be running successfully as it is 10 years down the line, which is a fantastic achievement for us.
“We hope that the triumphs continue for many more years yet to come.”
