AFTER over 25 years of performing quality drama, Mablethorpe’s Tennyson Players continue to thrive.
Performing everything from serious drama and comedies to pantomimes and concerts, the group has given members of all ages a chance to shine on the stage.
Jenny Platt, who went on to star in Coronation Street as Violet, won several festival awards as a Tennyson Players member.
The group’s annual week-long Easter drama workshop with local schools will also be continuing into 2012 and 2013.
The group has also been accepted into the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages project, meaning training with top RSC professionals and the chance to appear in showcase events.
Last year the group performed Seaside Dreams, a rewrite of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream set in 1953 post-flood Mablethorpe.
They showcased it at the 2011 Bathing Beauties Festival and it can be seen at May’s Skegness Drama Festival.
January’s performance, Music Hall Murder, entertained the audience with music hall acts, communal singing, a winter meal and a murder mystery.
The group’s next production, a stage version of TV comedy Allo Allo, will be performed at 7pm on April 28 and 29, at Mablethorpe Community Hall.
