Sunday June 9 is Open Farm Sunday and Hall Farm at Stainton le Vale is opening its gates to visitors.
This annual nationwide event is organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) and along with Hall Farm, hundreds of other farms across the country will be hosting events to showcase British farming. Open Farm Sunday is a great chance to find out at first hand how our food is grown and produced sustainably and talk to the farmers responsible.
Go along from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
During your visit you can discover how they grow wheat and barley which is used in breakfast cereals, biscuits, bread and beer; oilseed rape which gives one of the healthiest cooking oils and sugar beet which produces quality British sugar.
The farm’s herd of Lincolnshire Red cattle, which provides Waitrose and local butchers with quality beef, will be on show, together with a flock of sheep producing excellent lambs.
There will be sheep dog trials, sheep shearing, farm machinery, local food stalls, farming and countryside displays, birds of prey, local crafts and a vintage tractor run.
Refreshments and delicious home-made cakes will be on sale from the local church ladies and WI.
