Louth Film Club will be screening Barbara, a compelling political and psychological thriller from Germany, at the Playhouse Cinema on Monday, June 3.
Set in 1980, in what was then East Germany, the film tells the story of a doctor banished from Berlin to a provincial hospital for wanting to escape to the west.
She befriends a fellow doctor and a pregnant teenage patient, but is harrassed by a local Stasi agent and doesn’t know whom she can trust.
Barbara, in German with subtitles, is Certificate 12A.
The show starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, paying the normal Playhouse Cinema ticket prices.
