THE Mablethorpe 'It's a Knockout' style event is now to take place a week earlier at a new location with an 'exciting' guest performance.

Known as Mabo KO, the action packed day will now take place on Saturday September 12 on Tennyson High School fields.

Organiser Dave Fenton said he has now booked martial arts dance group Sheffield Dragons Team Elite who appeared on last year's Britain's Got Talent ITV show to perform on the day.

In the original It's a Knockout television show contestants in teams took part in bizarre physical tasks typically dressed in elaborate costumes.

Support has already been pledged to the Mablethorpe event, expected to attract a thousand spectators and many more visitors to the town.

Mabo KO is set to cost around £6,000, which is hoped to be raised through sponsorship money.

A maximum of twelve teams will take part, and the four businesses who have already put teams forward are Dave's Restaurant in Mablethorpe, the Mablethorpe and Louth Co-op stores and Tesco in Skegness. Each team is required to raise £500 to compete in the event.

Dave's Restaurant has also become a 'platinum sponsor' to the event, donating a further £500.

Mr Fenton said: "We already have £2,500 is in the bag with a further £3,500 still to go. It's on target and looking good provided more businesses and individuals are prepared to sponsor, even a small way. We would love to be able to make this an annual event for Mablethorpe."

He added: "Any profits made from the event will be used to purchase Christmas food hampers for the needy in Mablethorpe and surrounding areas."

Sponsor forms are available now from the Mablethorpe Co-op, Seal Sanctuary and Dave's Restaurant.

Spectators tickets on the day will cost £2 for adults and £1 for Children.
