MABLETHORPE'S holiday resort status has been heavily criticised in a national newspaper on Sunday.
The travel article, written by Martin Kelner for The Mail On Sunday, describes Mablethorpe as: "Disfigured by the scruffiest collection of down-at-heel cafes and gift shops I have ever laid eyes on.

He added: "It would need more than a casino to revive it. A 20-megaton bomb might do the trick."

The father, who visited the resort with his young daughter, went on to say: "These days, I suspect, Mablethorpe is chosen as a destination mainly for sentimental reasons by people who spent childhood holidays there."

However, he did offer praise for the town's crazy golf site, adding: "Remarkably, though, it has one of the finest crazy golf courses on the coast."

East Lindsey District Council confirmed to us they plan to bombard the website with responses to the article and encourage local residents to do the same.
