UNWANTED Christmas trees will be reused to improve the sea defences along sand dunes in Mablethorpe and Trusthorpe.

Following East Lindsey District Council's decision to axe the green waste collection over the winter months, Mablethorpe Mayor Helen Parkhurst has organised a Christmas tree drop-off point for Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe and Trusthorpe communities.

The old Christmas trees will be gathered then planted horizontally along the Mablethorpe sand dunes.
The trees will help trap sand and build up the dunes in height, improving sea defences.

The drop off point for all trees is North End car park, The Seal Sanctuary Mablethorpe, on Saturday and Sunday between 10 and 1pm, January 15, 10am to 1pm and January 16, 10am to 1pm.

For more information contact the Mayor on 01507 441364.
