AN ELDERLY couple were threatened in their home by two sword-wielding burglars in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The couples' home in Lindum Terrace on Quebec Road was targeted by the two men at 5.20am where they were threatened with two ornamental swords taken from their garden shed.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "The elderly 72-year old man sustained a head injury and was taken to Skegness Hospital where he was treated and subsequently discharged. Both he and his wife suffered shock injuries. The two men fled the scene in the couple's vehicle, a white Rover 214."

Matthew John Saunders, 27, and Paul Fellowes, 28, both from Leicester were arrested in the Loughborough area at around 1pm on Sunday by officers from Leicestershire Police. They were taken to Loughborough Police Station and charged with the offence of Aggravated Burglary.

Both men were remanded and were due to appear before a Leicester court yesterday.

The couple's white Rover 214 car has been recovered by police.
