150 jobs on offer to people on the coast thanks to jobs fair

150 jobs will be up for grabs along the coast to help with the rising number of residents who are unemployed which is currently in excess of 3,000.

A jobs fair will be held at Mablethorpe Community Hall on Friday, February 22, from 10.30am until 2.30pm, to help match up people looking for work with potential employers.

June Howard, Employer Adviser for Job Centre Plus in Mablethorpe commented on the options available on the day.

She said: “These exciting events are open for all jobseekers, giving everyone the opportunity to speak to employers directly about the different types of jobs on offer.

“The fair will be a great opportunity to bring together employers and training providers at one venue, helping job seekers to see what options are available to them.”

With a high amount of residents in the East Lindsey area being registered as unemployed, East Lindsey District Council and Jobcentre Plus have teamed up to organise an recruitment fair offering 150 jobs.

These jobs will be spread across a range of different fields and will be available to people in Mablethorpe and Skegness.

A similar jobs fair was held last year in Mablethorpe with over 600 people attending, 30 per cent of those people that turned up successfully gained employment.

As well as job opportunities, there will be recruitment and training advice available, plus apprenticeship opportunties.

The district council and Job Centre Plus hope the fairs will result in local people being introduced to employers who can offer more sustainable longer term jobs.

Also this will help local employers to fill the vital seasonal jobs that become available each year.

Coun Craig Leyland, portfolio holder for economic regeneration added: “I am pleased we’ve been able to work with Job Centre Plus on these incredibly important events.

“I hope people who need suppport in a finding a new job will make a note of the date now and go along to see what opportunities there may be for them.”
