A coast-to-coast vintage tractor rally has been organised by a Grainthorpe man, to raise money for When You Wish Upon A Star.

Andrew Jacklin will lead 10 vintage tractors on the 160-mile trek from Blackpool to Cleethorpes for the charity, which helps to make dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses. They will also raise money for the Grainthorpe and Conisholme Village Association.

Andrew and his fellow enthusiasts will leave Blackpool on Wednesday May 28, stopping at a number of sites of former British tractor manufacturers, before arriving in Cleethorpes on Sunday 1 June.

Andrew and his colleagues are hoping to meet with up to 100 vintage and classic models in Cleethorpes for a parade along the sea front.

They will then embark on the 11th annual road run to Grainthorpe Village Hall.

Andrew said: “It’s the 100th anniversary of Grainthorpe Village Hall, so we wanted to do something a bit special and raise money for an important charity as well.

“We always start our annual rally to Grainthorpe from a different point each year and from this we had the idea of Cleethorpes Pier – and then going from Pier to Pier.”

The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) will be supporting the event, and others who wish to donate can visit www.grainthorpe-roadrun-p2p.co.uk.
