Thursday 2pm AN upbeat note has been sounded by Coun John Macdonald on his year as Louth Mayor which is now drawing to its end.
At the annual town meeting at the town hall, he thanked residents for their support and declared: "I've enjoyed every second if it. My wife, Pauline, and I have had a wonderful time."
Over the past 11 months, Coun Macdonald has attended more than 150 events in Louth, Lincolnshire and beyond in his mayoral capacity.
This figure could rise to almost 200 by the time his term ends on on May 16 when he is due to be succeeded by Coun Fran Treanor.
He described the role of the mayor as being to promote the town - "not difficult in such an attractive and vibrant community as Louth".
During his presentation he pinpopinted some of the highlights, including the Civic Sunday parade, his official banquet and the switch on of the Christmas illuminations.
He praised the work of council colleagues - Margaret Ottaway, Brian Wiliamson, John Dean and Fran Treanor - in ensuring the success of last summer' special event to mark the centenary of the gifting of Hubbard's Hills to the people of Louth.
Coun Macdonald also praised the enterprise and enthusiasm of Louth's community organisations, particularly those involving young people
Some of these took stand space at the meeting.
The mayor also thanked town clerk Linda Blankley and her assistant, Lynda Phillips, plus town colleagues for their support.
After mid month, he will switch to being deputy mayor and Fran Treanor will take over as mayor.
