THOUSANDS of people enjoyed a night to remember as Mablethorpe’s summer illuminations lit up on Saturday night.

Despite concerns that this year might fail to live up to standards of previous years, due to the axing of a celebrity appearance, the seafront was packed to the rafters.

East Lindsey District Council say a massive 7,500 people crammed in for the grand finale of a spectacular fire show from award winning Australians Flame Oz, and a huge fireworks display.

Throughout the day there was entertainment for people to enjoy, from face painting and beach sports to live music, circus acts and a street market, there was something for everyone. Australians Flame Oz promised a show, and they gave one. A daring half hour fire performance. And few noticed as the summer illuminations behind them came to life.

Steffy Carruthers said: “The fireworks were the best we’ve had. A great day and night was had by all."
