Tuesday 2pm - THE firm planning to excavate gas storage facilities in the Saltfleet area could be asked to cough up money to enhance village amenities.
At an East Lindsey District Council northern area committee meeting, Coun Brian Burnet said an approach should be made to Wingas in the run-up to October when it is expected to lodge a formal planning application.

"We should be looking for some form of planning gain," urged Coun Burnett. "Several villages are likely to be adversely affected by a potential increase in lorry movements."

The meeting heard from district council business support manager Mark Humphreys there will be widespread local consultation on the proposal which has sparked controversy in Satlfleet and beyond. It is likely the storage application will be determined by Whitehall under provisons of the 1965 Gas Act rather than by district or county planning authorities.
