Wednesday 2pm - EAST Lindsey District Council's Cleansing Team has been nominated as a national finalist from 350 entries in an awards scheme for local government.
The team has reached the final voting stage for the work they did supporting residents during last summer's flooding, which included handing out sandbags, helping people protect their homes and cleaning up afterwards.

East Lindsey residents can now vote for the cleansing team at www.localgovernmentchannel.com as it goes up against six other local authorities from across the country.

Coun Doreen Stephenson, leader of the council, said: "I am very proud of this team. They were on the ground during a difficult and traumatic emergency providing frontline support.

"Later, when the spotlight had moved away, they continued to work with some of our most vulnerable residents providing practical support."
