Thursday 11am - A FREE breast screening service is now being provided in Louth for women aged between 50 and 70.
A mobile screening unit will be situated in the car park at Louth County Hospital for the next five to six months, organised by the Lincolnshire Breast Screening Service.
The screening service will be automatically inviting women registered with Dr King and Partners medical practice in North Somercotes, Dr Massey and Partners in North Thoresby and Dr Staunton and Partners, Dr Pike and Partners and Dr Dwyer and Partners in Louth.
Women aged 70 and over may ring the administration office for appointments on 01522 573999.
Screening Office Manager Alysa Page said: "Little is known about how to prevent breast cancer but the earlier it is found the better the chance of successful treatment.
"One in 12 women over 50 will be affected by breast cancer. The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust's mobile service is part of the NHS initiative to reduce this life threatening disease."
