Wednesday 11am - A LOUTH woman is preparing to run the Mablethorpe Marathon on September 14 for the Louth Hospital Scanner Appeal.
Karen Needham works as a Community Midwife at the hospital and was determined to run a full marathon before she is 50 in two years time.
She said: "I took up running in 2001 to do a three mile Race for Life and have gradually progressed to a half marathon last year. I train with a friend from Lincoln and we are up to 20 miles for our long run. I often see families I look after whilst out running.
"I run two to three times a week, and I also do power walks, swimming and gardening to get fit and ready for the big day. I am determined to run all 26 miles."
