Monday 1pm - A TASTING session by national magazine Country Life has judged a locally farmed and butchered beef as Britain's best steak.
The magazine asked producers to supply steaks and a team of judges then tucked in at a tasting session at the Oyster & Chop House restaurant in London.
The winning steak was provided by Meridian Meats of Eastgate, Louth, specialists in rare breed meats run by butcher Jim Sutcliffe.
The meat was from Longhorn cattle bred and raised by the Sutcliffe family at Tetford.
To celebrate winning the award of Britain's best steak Meridian Meats, as part of National Butchers Week (March 16-21), is running a competition to find the best recipe using minced beef.
Entries can be posted in the competition box in the shop by March 21.
The winner will get a meat hamper worth £50 and the winning recipe will be printed and made available in the shop.
Meridian Meats was praised in last week's edition of Country Life Magazine.
