A 72 YEAR OLD Louth lady appeared on popular television quiz show, The Weakest Link recently.
Peggy Morris from Monks Dyke Road, Louth appeared on the show last week to make her grandchildren, Alex Furnish, 23 and Christopher Pacey, 14, proud.
And proud they were, after Peggy made it through to the fifth out of a total of eight rounds.
Peggy, who watches the show everyday said: "I just thought I would go on it and make my grandchildren proud of me before I got too old. I answered about 12 questions and it was going really well".
Peggy was among nine contestants battling it out for the cash prize by answering unforgiving Anne Robinson's series of questions.
And at the end of each round, the candidates voted off the person who they thought was 'the weakest link'.
With just four contestants left, Peggy, who is secretary for the Louth Gardening Society was feeling confident until – ironically - a gardening question had her stumped. She said: "It was the only one I got wrong! But as long as you're not the first one off it doesn't matter. The contestants were a good bunch – I was the oldest one there and the youngest, who was 18, won! But that's just the way the cookie crumbles".
