Tuesday 8am - LOCAL musicians have enjoyed great success after holding a memorial concert for music lover Russell Coggle.
Russell from South Elkington, sadly died of a heart attack in April 2007 aged just 56.
He was a big music enthusiast and did alot of work for the Brigg Fiddle Festival.
One year since his death, his twin daughters Rosie and Lucy Coggle who study music at Newcastle University, along with local Celtic folk music group The Riverhead Ranters put on a concert to celebrate the twin's father's life.
The concert raised an impressive £1276 on June 15 – appropriately on father's day.
All the money raised throughout the evening went to the British Heart Foundation.
The sell out event included music from Rosie and Lucy Coggle who play the bodhran, cello and fiddle as well as sing, the River Head Ranters – Simon Topham, Hillary Waterfall, Simon Marsden and Stuart Hunter, the Workshy Profits who played sets of gypsy, jazz and flamenco and the Wooton Fiddle Club.
Simon Topham, who organised the concert said: "It was a really successful night and it completely sold out.
"It went on quite a bit longer than expected, and a lot of the elder people said it was the latest they had been up before!
"We received really good feedback and a lot were asking when we were going to do another one.
"There was quite an emotional build up to it and both girls said it was a very fitting tribute to Russ".
