RESPONSES to last weeks article concerning a mystery noise have been flooding in – each with very different theories behind them.
Last week we printed an article after a resident of Charles Street, Louth reported hearing a continuous, high-pitched and annoying noise near her home.
It was getting so bad, the lady who did not want to be named was thinking of moving. And she was not alone.
Mr Raymond Marr of Grimsby Road has heard the noise and believes it is coming from the Britton Merlin factory on Brackenborough Road. He said: "The noise is at its worse with an easterly wind. Let's hope bosses at Merlin carry out some sound proofing work so we can get a decent night's sleep"
Alan and Fiona Hunter who live on Charles Street can also hear the noise wonder if it could come from a teenage deterrent at a Stamford Homes building site at the top of Charles Street to keep youths away from potential danger. Alan said: "I also live on Charles Street and hear the continuous high pitched tone. I only hear it in the one room of the house though – the one facing onto Charles Street and normally only in the very early hours of the morning".
Another theory was the possibility of a neighbour using a cat deterrent while others claimed it could be caused by too much electrical appliances being used at the same time.
But sill the mystery of the noise remains unsolved as businesses claim there is no equipment being used that would emit such a sound.
