LOUTH councillors have decided not to fund proposals for a medieval fair next year to mark the 850th anniversary of the town's charter.
They noted a letter from Louth historian Jean Howard the event was not of sufficient importance to be ‘worthy of celebration’.

Coun Clive Finch said the initative for the event had come from a private firm which stages medieval re-enactions.

He said: “It was a commercial venture.”
