Thursday 8am - LOUTH will have its own radio station in the run up to Christmas Christmas.
Heat Rays 87.8 FM will be beamed across a 25 mile radius from the studio at Monks' Dyke Technology College.

Students from the college will present a mix of music, interviews and competitions, 24 hours a day from December 18 to 21.

This is the second year the radio station has been broadcast and the college's Mike Kinnaird said it is a great experience for the students.

He said: "Firstly they can do it and that's a surprise to many in its own right. Second the response they get from listeners via text and email is without exception supportive, so we know there's an audience."

Several students who started out on Heat Rays now either broadcast on Spire Hospital Radio at the town's hospital or on university radio stations, with some considering broadcasting as a career.

The station is being supported by the team from Spire Hospital Radio this year.

The college's ultimate aim is to have a full time community radio station in Louth.
