TEN workers have been made redundant following East Lindsey District Council's decision to stop the green waste collections during the winter months.

From November 18 the green wheelie bin collections will be stopped and will restart around Easter 2010.

Last week 10 loaders were made redundant after the Council came to an agreement with the Trades Unions, GBM and Unison, following discussions with the workers from the refuse and recycling team.

The loaders were given two options - a 35 hour working week for everyone instead of 37 hours and no redundancies or ten redundancies.

It was decided redundancies was preferred and the council used the Bradford Factor to decide who was to be considered.

This meant the employees with the worst absence record were the first in line.
