Tuesday 3pm - BRAVE football star Nathan Hancock, 22, of Skegness, lost his fight to cancer on Sunday evening.
He was with his family and fiancée when he died at Nottingham City Hospital.

Nathan, a well-known local footballer, had shown tremendous courage since he was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma, a very rare form of cancer, in February.

He beat the cancer into remission in May only for it to swiftly return at the beginning of October.

A bone marrow transplant was urgently needed to give Nathan a chance of defeating the cancer for good but Nathan's case was more complicated because he was mixed race and there is a shortage of bone marrow donors registered from ethnic communities.

His family set about campaigning for more people to join the register, even gaining celebrity support and national coverage of the appeal.

Players at Louth United pledged their support by joining a bone marrow register and Nathan signed for the team from his hospital bed.

He was a team mate of many of United's newest players who moved from Skegness Town with manager Paul Walden this season.

Although it was too late for Nathan, it was his wish for the campaign to continue after his death to give others a chance to live.

Nathan's bravery and determination throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Nathan, who grew up in Alford, had been on the brink of a professional football career until a broken leg spelled the end of his dream.

He loved working for Linkage Community Trust at Toynton teaching sports to adults with learning difficulties.

* Anthony Nolan Trust bone marrow recruitment sessions will take place at the Embassy Centre, Skegness, on December 1 and 8.
You can find out exactly what is involved and join the register then.
