The Riverhead Theatre is commemorating the 70th anniversary of D-Day with a night of nostalgic tunes played by a vintage big band.
Paula Baldwin’s 17 piece Big Swing Band will be putting on “Once More With Feeling” on Friday June 6, a two hour concert of hit songs and tunes popular during the Second World War and the Ration Book Years of the 1950s.
Continuing on Saturday June 7, the concert will be the popular Swing Band’s seventh year on the trot at The Riverhead, playing to full houses every summer.
Paula said: “Remembering those who gave their lives on D-Day is really what this is all about, but I also want to pay tribute to the musicians who kept people’s spirits up in those dark times, often risking life and limb to play on.
“After the War, when things were still tough, it was big band music and singers that kept folk cheerful.”
