Volunteers from the local community are being sought to help patients at Louth County Hospital to return home as easily as possible.
The Louth WRVS Home from Hospital service organise volunteers to help people return home with confidence and are launching a new push for helpers.
Support is offered by trained volunteers who help with things like shopping, prescriptions, looking after pets, providing friendship and support.
The service is actively seeking volunteers to help out and CRB costs, insurance and expenses are all provided.
Gareth Walters, service manager, said: “We fill the gap when people come out of hospital and make sure they have everything they need, it could be something like putting their heating on for when they arrive home.
“We are really desperately short of volunteers to assist with the service, that support would be gratefully received and we can’t do the service without your help.
The service is also looking for referrals from community members who think they or someone they know needs support.
