Accused army widow faces court

AN ARMY widow has appeared before magistrates at Skegness on allegations of defrauding the Ministry of Defence out of more than £135,000.

Carol Anne Garside, 47, of Yarborough Close, Holton le Clay, faces two allegations of obtaining a money transfer by deception and two of dishonestly failing to disclose information.

The offences are alleged to have been committed between July 1993 and April 2011 and relate to a total of £138,943.

It was said the offences concerned the claiming of a war widow’s pension.

Mrs Garside was committed for trial at Lincoln Crown Court and will make her first appearance on August 28 and was granted unconditional bail until that date.
