Adrian Benjamin has been voted in as the newly elected chairman of the Sutton on Sea First Residents Association for the upcoming year ahead.

Prebendary Adrian Benjamin is succeeding Coun Steve Palmer who had resigned in the Summer after taking on the co-ordinating role for Sutton on Sea LIVES First Responders.

Adrian retired from his holy duties as Chaplain to the Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet in 2012 and is living live to the full with his wife Martine in Sutton on Sea.

Adrian was delighted to be voted in for the role.

He told the Leader: “ I was naturally delighted to be nominated and then win the vote for the chairmanship.

“But I did feel a bit guilty as when I retired I had said I meant it and was going to relax, read and enjoy long walks on the beach and everyone chorused like in a pantomime ‘O no you won’t!’.

He added: “I haven’t come into the role with a great and powerful agenda, as I have always loved Sutton as it is, nice and quiet.

“But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun here.

“It is a good though to have this chance of linking people up, visitors and newcomers to the village especially and making sure Sutton doesn’t get overshadowed too much by Mablethorpe.”

The work of the Sutton on Sea First Residents Association aims to work alongside other voluntary groups, local businesses, agencies and statutory authorities to make social and cultural life in Sutton on Sea richer and to make better known all that’s happening in the town and all that is planned.

The association also frequently arrange social and fundraising events and seek to support an array of local charities.
