Adrian Long, owner of A&M Dog Grooming in Covingham is celebrating after picking up his first win at the British Dog Grooming competition.
The annual competition was held at Bingley Hall in Staffordshire Showground and his six-year-old Bovier Des Flandres, Bentley barked off the stiff competition to win the newcomers class.
Adrian has been spending the last ten years doing dog grooming as a hobby and has just recently decided to turn his hobby into a business.
Adrian is delighted with his recent win, he told the Leader: “I was in total shock when I found out I had won. Going into my very first competition, I wasn’t expecting to win anything,
“I didn’t really know what to expect, but it was great to win and a really nice feeling.
“I received a first place trophy in the newcomers class, a rosette for Bentley and some electric clippers, so overall it was a great day.”
Bentley was a rescue that Adrian saved over a year ago and has come out today winning his class in the pure breed scissor section.
Adrian is now preparing for his next competition in April next year.
He added: “This has been my first competition, so I just thought I would give it ago.
“Now I’m looking forward to preparing for the next one, but I am thinking entering another dog for this next competition.”
