Alford, Mablethorpe and Sutton groups given new grant

THREE groups from our area will receive new community grants from the East Lindsey District Council.

Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Alford all chosen to receive a portion of the £134,950 available as part of the 2011/12 Community Grant scheme.

Sutton on Sea Cricket Club were granted £4,000 for a new artificial cricket wicket.

The Mablethorpe Area Partnership will receive £1,991 towards promoting the resort through events and attractions, but Alford were the biggest local winners, earning £9,262 towards their Craft Market and Arts Festival over the next three years.

Portfolio Holder for Communities, Councillor Sandra Harrison, added: “I am delighted that the Council has been able to support these local groups with grants for their projects. It is wonderful to see so many people playing a positive active role within their community and hopefully with this grant funding these groups will be able to realise their ambitions.”
