Alfie Dawson, from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, Alford, has been selected to play for the Leicester RUFC U15 squad, training with them once a month on a Monday evening in Leicester.
Alfie started playing rugby at the age of seven for Market Rasen and Louth RUFC, and continues to train and play for them.
It has always been my dream to play professional rugby, and I am now one step closer to that dream!
Alfie currently plays at centre and hopes to go on to make rugby his career through gaining a scholarship with Leicester once he leaves school.
Headteacher, Miss Angie Francis said: “We are very proud of his achievements.
“Being selected for the Leicester U15 team is a step forward to fulfilling his dream to play professional rugby.”
Alfie added: “Along with school, rugby has been my life.
“It means a lot to me. It influences what I eat and how I lead my life.
“You have to be very disciplined and I apply the core values we have at school to my training. It has always been my dream to play professional rugby, and I am now one step closer to that dream!”.
