Alford school among best for adding value

STAFF and students at a local school are celebrating after named named as a top school for adding value to their pupils’ achievements at GCSE.

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar in Alford, a specialist academy, is in the top ten per cent of schools when ranked according to their pupils’ GCSE success compared with the results those pupils would be expected to gain when they started their secondary education.

Headteacher Angie Francis, said: “We are pleased to receive this recognition.

“Our results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students and their teachers and our high expectations.”
