Alford youngsters complete the big read

Libraries from across Lincolnshire have been busy celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of popular children's author Roald Dahl.

They invited children to read six books over the course of the summer holidays as part of the annual summer reading challenge.

Youngsters returned to Alford Library – now completely run by volunteers – to receive their certificates for completing the scheme.

Organisers hope it will spur them on to take on further reading during the school term.
