BREAKING: 98-home plan for Louth Town FC ground is given the go ahead

The go-ahead has been given for 98 homes to be built on land long occupied by Louth Town Football Club.

An outline proposal, submitted by Lincs Design Consultancy Ltd on behalf of applicant Mr I. Blakey, was approved 11-1 at an East Lindsey District Council planning meeting today (November 13).

The indication is that 74 of the dwellings will be open market, and 24 will be social rented.

Backing the approval recommendation of officers, Coun Brian Burnett said his only misgiving was access to the site along Park Avenue where there are many elderly residents.

The meeting noted that the football club proposes to relocate to a new ground on land off Nottingham Road on the Fairfield Industrial Estate once it has been purchased by EARLY (Education, Advancement, Recreation for Lincolnshire Youngsters), a community interest company.

Sport England objected - unsuccessfully - to the application on the grounds that the new facility would not be “equivalent” in scale to the present ground.
